There had seemed to be quite a gap between the furthest huts and the rear perimeter fence, when I'd got a look at the whole layout of the camp, before Samantha and Percy had first crawled through the tunnel under the fence.

If it was gas there had to be a way that the soldier-boys had pumped it out, and probably some more accessible containers, somewhere. I started to hunt around for them and found several objects that were shrouded by tarpaulins. Two indentical shapes had covers with a kind of easy-release rig. I fiddled around for a moment and released one of the catches.

The tarpaulin fell away and that was when I saw what it had hidden. She looked neglected, but with a little care - sleek and stunning! I was sure that Percy and Samantha were going to try to talk me out of it - but I wanted to take her with us!

I guess you could say I was playing games for a bit, just checking things out, though. After a while I got my mind back on business and went back to searching. I still couldn't see any way of getting gas from the containers, although I thought Percy might have some ideas on that.

She was ready to go, no problems with that all. I was still thinking of the arguments in favour as I drove back to where I'd last seen Percy and Sam.

I drove her out onto the parade-ground and waited for the others, waiting to see their reactions to what I'd found.....
