The Inititative Part 6

Getting the happy ending is often a matter of where you end the story. I hate an anticlimax. I was tempted to end my account of the big rescue with Erynne and me stopping the soldiers from ambushing both teams.
End it there and the rescue was successful, they we saved the maiden in distress. (More or less.) There were no casualties on our side (as far as I know,) and Erynne and I made a real good exit, after we cleared off the ambushing soldiers... *Sigh* Yeah, well...
The whole rescue went swell until the end. We came back to the upper level to find Team one exiting from the air-shaft on stage right. That was OK - Destiny and the vampire were helping a whole bunch of pretty girls out of there.
Cianna Haynes had led the group in and she led them out. (Her vibes were more unusual than ever, like the action was just starting for her - almost like she's got her own kind of burnings.)
The next was the Wicca, and Cianna turned and helped her out. It was an interesting moment and for a moment I was tempted to add a little magic - always willing to learn more...
Then the rescued Slayer came out - and the plot took on some twists. She took one look at Spike and started to shout at him about subway cars and dusting (?) and someone called Robin!
I almost cast the mojo to learn more - stopped myself just in time. She was flaming mad - one nudge and it could have been literal - and that was not likely to be appreciated after we'd gone through all that to save her...
I turned away to check that Erynne was still OK - but not before getting the impression that I knew the woman that we'd just saved. Just couldn't put a finger on when and how - I've been bopping around this dimension for centuries, on and off.
Anyway, Buffy Summers came out of the duct right behind her, and I think she broke up the row and took the rescued damsel off somewhere.
The gig was over for me, to the extent that I hardly bothered to watch as they got old Giles through. I think Xander Harris was the last out - none too pleased that he'd lost his pendant and his shirt was ripped from having shoulders wider than the vent.
We all took off. Erynne was too pale and I was post-gig - fortunately Destiny likes driving the Mustang, so we got a chauffeured trip back to the boarding house.
