We got back to the Magic Box a couple of hours before dusk. They'd already cleansed the place ready for casting, and I suspect that they'd warded it.
They hadn't been too heavy-handed with the wards and I don't think it bothered Erynne much. It was barely a tingle even for me, but I wondered if it would work against the other spells that they were going to cast.
After all the build-up, the first spell was almost anticlimactic. Tara Maclay walked over with a little, glowing Orb on her palm, and clasped hands with Erynne, almost like a handshake. The Maclay girl shivered, the Orb lost some of its glow - and Erynne turned to me with her old grin!
(I'd have known she was herself again even without the mojo, just from her expression - but our bond was back to full strength, too! For once I forgot the audience and just reacted.)
I'd been worried about there being after-effects of the spells, but the Little Wolf is strong. (Even the human seemed to be OK, after a moment or two.)
We had plans for the evening, and there wasn't much time left to spend - but the humans had plans, too. They'd already got a pentagram drawn and they'd started lighting the candles by the time we turned back to look.
I've never seen a mojo for multiple soul-exchange and, for a couple of seconds, I even thought about waiting to see the other spell cast.
Erynne was curious too, and she gave me a bad moment by stepping back towards the group - then she hugged the Witch, wished her well, and invited her up to visit us at William Tallisker House. Even with the bond I had a really bad split second before she added "tomorrow."
I think Erynne timed that last word to tease, but I'd had enough by then. I got an arm around her and a few seconds later we were out, laughing like - well, in my case laughing like a demon who's old enough to know better!
