singindemonhq: (a songfest)
Firewalled against all who mean harm,
See the words, obey the charm.
None who disapprove may see!
Warded well and now heed me!

Recorded.

I doubt if I contributed much to their meeting. )

I firewall things like this - if you can read this you were probably there. I don't remember too much of what was going on, right after she said that.

My mojo can reveal deep-hidden secrets and, when something is finally understood and the whole of reality seems to take on a new shape, there's a feeling that humans have ... and now I have it, too.

I'd worried about Erynne and kidded myself that it was old habit. She looks human and humans are delicate. I'd taken a lot of trouble to build up my mojo before I took on Warfield. I thought he'd be almost impossible to take down - instead, he was easy.

I had made a very simple, very stupid mistake. I had known one Lycanthrope (or his dopplegangers,) over several dimensions and alternate universes - and Grant is immortal. Erynne has some of the marks of immortality, including the infertility that it'd take magic to change for a little. (She was always so perfect.)

I just ... thought ...that she was immortal too - but suddenly all the evidence added up, and I knew that Erynne is as mortal as human, perhaps just a little longer lived...

I left the meeting as soon I could. I just went out where I could be alone for a while. (I was carrying the laptop, and l later I found it was still on record.)

Once in the courtyard I realised I was being watched by a single GEC, a black shadow in the night. Well, that GEC ought to understand if anything would. I'd thralled the whole pack of them into a haunted house by showing them the illusion of what they wanted. They'd ended up enthralled and semi-tamed, too.

Well, at least I had an audience who wouldn't gossip ...

Mortal

She didn't lie, She told me true,
The trouble was that Erynne
Was like a dream come true,
A laughing end to lonliness,
a living, loving home,
Someone to travel with me,
Any place that we might roam.

She didn't lie, I nearly knew,
And if she'd promised not to leave me
How could she sing true?
In other songs she promised
all the time that fate might give,
I heard forever - but
how long do mortals live?

I've been enthralled, or so it seems,
But anyone can thrall if they
hit on the client's dreams.
And victims dance along with
dreams of love or wealth,
For the lies that thrall the dreamer,
Are the lies he tells himself.

She didn't lie, I chose my path,
(and from the ash of centuries,
I'm sure I hear them laugh,)
Some think my magic
shows them what is real,
that can be wrong, and so can song,
it shows them what they feel.

And I should leave, just walk away,
For mortals wither into age,
and that gets worse each day,
It's too late for me to go,
This must end in pain, I know,
I must keep the Lore I know,
On with the show.
