That depends on who's doing the perceiving!

I've heard singing about this. Education can be a wonderful thing and I knew a science-minded girl who sang about "The Heisenberg Effect". She meant that being perceived can change whatever you're perceiving. (I've also heard humans call it a feedback-loop - although I never thought they were adaptable enough to need to describe how it works!)

I wonder about the character who's asking these questions. I perceive them as having potential -but maybe only enough for a real hot number, from the kind of thing they've been asking lately they've got more issues than a pop magazine - but I might make a note of some of the themes they've used.

Who do I kiss?
and who will I miss?
and where will I be
tomorrow?

Questions like this -
well, isn't life bliss?
Or maybe they'll sing of
sorrow?

Ahhh, I’m just not in the mood…

I'm sure I've written or sung about this in the past and the question's a dig I don't appreciate. I wanted a nice, powerful magic talent so I wouldn't have to leave the world I knew. Maybe a Healer - people always need Healers, even where I come from, and they're a powerful group. I didn't think so much about that aspect when I was a sprat, but it matters.

I used to watch the storms sometimes and wonder about being one of the cloud-herders. I guess every kid's wanted to be a weather-witch after seeing the twisters go twirling away from the city and out over the sea when the cloud-herders have to turn them.

It's elementary magic really - hell, the pun was unintentional, but from what I've heard they do it by manipulating heat and cold to get the winds to blow where they want them. It's impressive, flashy stuff but part of it's chemistry or physics or something. They go to a special school for it but most of them stay in the home dimension. It's a gift that wanes fast as they get older, but any community is glad to have a few retired weather-witches to act as rain wardens. Even the kids know how useful they are.

The talent I did develop is impressive and flashy enough and I went to a special school for it, too, once we knew what was coming, but nobody's asking me to move in next door and improve the neighborhood. Not even in a song.
