Disappointment, disillusion
- Everybody gets it.
Everyone idealises –
Everyone regrets it.

Ever think about the history?
Read it up. It’s not a mystery.
Started up with Adam and with Eve –
So some believe.

I heard that your earliest parents
Started in a garden,
Then they went and ate an apple
Never got a pardon.

It’s forbidden, an offence!
Did they go and climb a fence?
Someone in that Gig meant to deceive
Would you believe?

When the cavemen thought the Shaman,
Kept the storms from striking,
When the peasants thought church praying
Kept away the Viking,

Look at those who made the rules,
Were they superstitious fools?
Were they those who saw and could perceive,
What to believe?

Centuries of doing Gigs
and hearing how their songs go,
Hearing of their disillusions
Hearing how their wrongs go.

Trust betrayed can truly sting,
And the victims – how they sing.
That’s a thing to make a human grieve,
You can believe.

There’s no hate like trust betrayed.
Betrayal tends to shame them.
Anger burns down deep and long
Not sure that I blame them.

Sometimes that’s the human fate,
Once betrayed to fall to hate.
Justice is a dream that they perceive
And don’t believe.
