Theatrical Muse, When the script calls for a fool.

Did you ever intentionally make a complete fool out of yourself while fully realizing what you were doing?

Well, sure -

Every single Gig's a new arrangement,
with me thinking on my feet,
Easy little numbers or derangement,
Some must end in my defeat,
When I'm on a Gig the risks are big
and no-one ever knows
When I'm just going through the motions,
Riding for a fall,
Got no plans to take a queen at all.

Often things go wrong but either way, there'll
Be a lot they shouldn't see,
There will be set targets for some numbers,
Choices that ain't up to me,
So I'll do a show and then I'll go
and no-one ought to know,
When that's just cruising for a bruising,
'till the curtain falls,
Knowing I'll be getting further calls,

Someone hardly woke from slumber,
someone got a real hot number,
someone's dance was more a lumber,
Plenty more to see.
Dancing through the motions,
Singing through the plot
The script may mean defeat,
(Or getting nicknamed "Sweet"!)
It still can entertain a lot!
