Downtime 2 (The Musical)
Jun. 9th, 2003 07:41 pm/Recording/
I haven't been giving getting off this new world as high a priority as you might expect. Instead, I'm just enjoying some downtime.
It's been tense. After I lost contact with my home dimension I spent months on Earth, some of it in Sunnydale! I survived the Hell-dimension by seekingfriends allies and makin g sure they didn't identify me with the demons that were giving them trouble. I made sure that everyone knows just how Lore-abiding a Quavellian can act. be.
There are no guidelines for how to behave if we get cut off for so long, so I have wondered how Quaverel might react to the way I handled things - but there's been no angry mob at the door, no bounty hunters, no Diran. Nobody trying out some painful way to kill me.
My methods work, and nothing that works is stupid.
(Undignified, perhaps - but I could probably write memoirs if I get back, or even if I don't. I've been served drinks by a slayer I've been asked to stay in a human's home! I don't suppose anyone on Quain would believe it, though.
[ Firewalled against all who might disapprove. I got quite fond of some of them, too.]
I've also been surrounded by unshielded human minds for most of the time. That can get very difficult for an empath. Some of them radiate negative emotionsand they resocalize constantly, some of their attitudes are practically infectious and they feel and do the damnedest things.
I enjoyed Erynne's company from the first - she's got what you might call positive attitudes. She kind of chases life down, pounces on it, grabs it and shakes it until the fun bursts out and settles on the people around her.
(Maybe I should firewall that image against her. She doesn't think of her lyncanthropy as being a curse, as a rule - but she can be over-sensitive about it. On second thoughts, I'll leave it right here and see what her reaction is.
The things she's worried about were just ... well, I didn't take them seriously. I've known creatures much more dangerous than she is (and some of them probably still have nightmares about me.) But maybe I'm over-reacting about the gigs, too - we've both got our little ... foibles.
There's at least one part of it that she might like. One of my abilities is - well, when I choose to turn it on it amounts to having a talent for chaos. I can bring whole cities to ruin. It means that I'm not all that welcome anywhere - but it can be a lot of fun!

But now sun's burnt off shadows--
and you look away...
I need to hear the words now--
Will you go, or will you stay?

hear the truth in my voice,
If I have to leave you,
It won't be by my choice...

But I can give my heart just once
--it's too late to lie.
*Rests head against your chest,closing
her eyes to listen for your answer*

Life's what dreams are for,
We can be together if
We marry under Lore...

*hugs you tightly*
*eases off, looking up at you*
By the Lore-- I don't know about your people's
customs when it comes to this, Sweet. What do
we need to do?

Date: 2003-06-09 01:01 pm (UTC)If we can get to Earth it might be easy. There's a talisman, if you wear it and recite an invocation it's a marriage ceremony, it goes into effect at midnight of that day. A friend has it at the moment - Astraeia, you'll like her - she's a Vengeance demon....

Date: 2003-06-09 01:09 pm (UTC)Oh, really? I won't ask why this *friend* has
your version of a wedding ring...so long as
we all understand that if I say anything that
amounts to 'death do us part', it's going to
be directed at only one person at a time.
And the death part? *grins, showing teeth*
*laughs*
No, I'd like to meet some of your other friends.
I think I did meet Astraeia briefly--assuming I'm
not thinking of someone else-- she was at the
Countess' ball, wasn't she? As a genie?

Date: 2003-06-09 02:26 pm (UTC)Waitaminute - if you say, "until death do you part" it'll apply to only one person at a time?
*laughs, teasing you* Should I be worried?

No. Trust me, no matter what anyone else says,
you don't have any competition.
Sounds like we need to get that computer
working. I don't think even you're going to
have much luck conjuring something from that far
away! Maybe I can take a look at it with you...
Later?
