"would I mock somebody?" Me??
Oh, I laugh and who could blame me?
For a little mockery.
They hide their meagre secrets,
and they hope their minds are locked,
Oh there are much worse things around,
Than to be a little mocked.
They sing their thoughts of vengeance
Not caring who might hear,
They hide the things they ought to show
And court things they should fear,
Some of them dread to live their lives
But think they dread to die.
If I were not a demon
I might laugh until I cry!
I hear them sing the lies they tell,
Or what they think is true,
Of the things they dream of having
And the things they really do.
I hear them sing their hearts at me
Their dreams of love or wealth,
Would you have me take one seriously
As he might take himself?
"would I mock somebody?" Me??
