TM, Where do you see yourself in twenty years.

I’m a loyal minion, always was, and I’m taking this one over for the Master’s sake.

He’s … not himself, at the moment. Something to do with a damn silly spell that turned him into a child and then getting called out to a Gig to one of the Hell-dimensions. Anyway, he doesn’t have a long attention span at the best of times. He lets it all hang out, too, but there are limits.

I don’t suppose I’ll be allowed to post this but I can tell you what effect that question’s likely to have. Twenty years is long enough for the latest queen to get old. Not be so quick with the dance steps, not be so easy to swing with – you know? That’s if she lives that long. They don’t always. Not every Gig is to one of those fancy countries where people get properly fed as kids so they last through middle age.

Twenty years is long enough for a lot of changes. You don’t always take well to change when you get to the Master’s age. You lose the things you do like and you may never get into the habit of the new things that you might have liked when you were younger.

I can tell you what else is bugging him this time, too. He’s used to the world he works in most. Sure his people call it a Hell-dimension but he gets on okay with it. Some people like dogs, some people like cats, or gwuanies, he’s got used to humans.

The trouble with humans, they use things up. That place could have changed beyond recognition in twenty years. It’s changed a Helluva lot in the last twenty. None of us know where they’ll send him when it’s not habitable. I know he doesn’t want the Pylea run but all the alternatives have problems, too.

Twenty years can go by fast, when you get to his age.
