I woke up this morning and I bopped along,
Went to check the mirror and there’s something … wrong.
There’s a problem here that shocked me out of rhyme
From the looks of this I’ve just gone back in time!

Well, I thought at first I’d gone back to the past,
But I gave a call, the minion turned up fast.
(When I saw young Drandy I was quite dismayed
He just joined my service in the last decade.)

I guess it's not a joke they played for fun,
From the looks of it I’ve ended up quite young,
And it might cause laughter and it might cause tears
I could be re-growing for 500 years!

(And with 15 hundred more to dance on through
It’s a thing to ponder if the spell holds true.
I’m the oldest operative, I earned my place,
And I can’t get used to that new baby face.)

And that’s where my song stopped. The Minion was already reaching for his mask when he told me,
“Master, there’s been an invocation. You’ve been summoned to Dimension Rel 14B on a recall deal. It looks as though something’s gone wrong, Master.”

His voice shook, just a little – he was masked but I doubt if he was laughing. Rel is dangerous and 14b is … unusual. I guess anyone who’s read this journal for long enough knows that my kind gets better control of their powers as they get older. I guessed that I was about to find out whether that was skill or hormone related.

(Singing of hormones, if there was a queen around this time she’d probably want to adopt me or something. There was some kind of shtick about Rel and recalls anyway. I guessed I’d get a reminder while I was there.) So once the Gig team was ready we … went.
