There's so much I should talk with Erynne about,
but from the point where she said that she intended to spoil me rotten I just - well, seemed to have trouble concentrating on
anything else.

(I read the humans' holy book a few times. If the price of a good woman is above rubies then is that saphire engagement ring I gave her enough?) That was an incredible evening. I could see the brand, still bright against my skin and it reminded me.

I reminded Erynne that she'd told me back then that some clan members who married in didn't even have arms. (I'm pretty sure she wasn't kidding - I'd meant to ask if they'd had arms at the time of the wedding, but somehow I always get distracted.)

But I really should ask about their policy on Clan Members marrying out. Sometimes it seems they have no rules - and I've met Stephen and Amber - but I really would like to know more about that.

That's part of what I was wondering, even though she couldn't harm him she must have been frantic by then, perhaps enough to keep trying, or to harm herself...

This is one of those stories that makes me wish that someone with the truthseer mojo had been there - though I know that your people humans can be strange about children, and pregnant women. *sigh.* that was one reason for the Queen clause.

So, he married her, or she married him... and it worked out well?

The clan leader thought on this for some
hours. He went home alone that night,
and for the first time, the silence near
choked him.
There were no children in Corona, he realized,
and might be none for years...few of them
were married, and all knew they were on the
brink of a dreadful war if the humans kept
enslaving their fellows in such numbers.
The
ones in the Clan who could See across time
had warned of it more than once.
Was it wise to bring children into that,
some had asked. Now he wondered how unwise
it might be to refuse doing so.

He returned to Damtien the next morning,
and asked her to tell him what customs
he'd have needed to follow if they'd meant to
marry in her village. "Your heritage
is a gift your child shouldn't be cheated
out of. Nor should...ours, someday."

Niall adopted her little son. The boy had
two half-sisters, later. They never knew that
Niall wasn't father to all three, at Damtien's
insistence, though I don't think he argued.

It was then that the law--for us--was said
and agreed on, that family ties mightbe
those of blood, but more important was choice,
"freely given oath before outer form."

"freely given oath before outward form"

You know, Little Bard, it was just chance that I went into
the Treasure Dragon that first time. I took an unusual turning,
and than I saw the sign - and then I met you. I've met many
who don't believe in chance, but that was ...

*mojo music*

Ties of blood or ties of race,
tuneful voice or pretty face,
who knows why those dice
fall as they will,

Hear the truth that's in my voice,
you would always be my choice,
through the times to come,
for good or ill,

I still can't believe,
the chance that we had,
to choose who we wanted,
through good and through bad,

I still can't believe,
the chance that we met,
To reshape our futures,
through joy or regret,

Hear the truth that's in my voice,
you would always be my choice,
through the times to come,
for good or ill,

Common Lore or plighted troth,
stated word or formal oath,
promises are made and
bind us still...

,,,,,,,
*Turning to you , with sudden change of mood,*
and we should be planning for the
next few days...
