Normally, when I've moved between the dimensions I've been on gigs (and, as one of those British Watchers might say, "it is not done for the boss to be seen carrying things.") When I'm smoking about I can't carry things anyway.

So I have centuries of experience in not having luggage - so I mislaid the portable part of the computer a couple of times and couldn't update my Journal.

We've been moving around a lot in the last couple of weeks. We went to Catalina Island for the full moon. Erynne needed the break, even though she says she's recovered from the blood loss that Lamia caused the month before.

This time,Demetria cast some kind of ward to protect Erynne, I think. It wasn't my kind of mojo but it seems to work. I'm grateful, we both needed ... respite, but now I'm wondering
what the old one did, and what price she paid.

When the Hunters Moon had waned,
and it shed a gentler light,
still we needed rest awhile,
drowsy day and laughing night.
staying in a place entranced,
where night-birds sang
and dolphins danced,
drowsy night and laughing day,
summer-light and Erynne,

When the Hunters Moon went down,
and the new moon rode the night,
Quietly I became aware,
of a presence quiet but bright,
something dreaming, quiet and kind,
in the shadows of the mind,
and there was no harm to share
joy with what was shining there,

(One thing that the years have taught,
Love is always dearly bought,
Magic has a price to call,
Peace is highest priced of all,
Who reached claws to take a price,
for laughing days and drowsy nights,
what's the price? And who must pay?
For drowsy night and laughing day?
Who has paid the price of years,
for respite from a world of fears?)

I think Demetria paid a high price to buy our time of peace. Now I watch Erynne laughing by the sea, and wonder at her own magic - that even those who have outlived their worlds and their dreams know that she is worth ... anything.
