See the words, obey the charm.
None who disapprove may see!
Warded well and now heed me!
. The Little Bard agreed to Invoke me, to be sure that our marriage is Loreful!
I'd thought about how and where we'd do this for so long. I wanted it to be perfect. It needs somewhere like the Bronze - somewhere set up for dancing, even better if there's a proper stage.
(The Bronze has security cameras, too. That kind of scrying is new and it led to too many people seeing a gig, once - but if Erynne and I could get films of the Invocation nobody could ever say that it wasn't done right.
I was planning like that when the portal to my home dimension was down. We might have needed to prove that we were Lorefully married, if they'd just found us together, once the portal was fixed. Erynne is who I want, but she may not be at all the kind of bride that they expected me to bring back with me!)
Now, we're living here at the Inn. The public rooms are too public and the bedrooms are carpeted. I thought about the cellars, but the floors there are stone. There's a kind of side room with a wooden floor that might do, if we can lock the door.
What am I thinking?! I've been living in this dimension for too long - if we can't get in there I'll just vanish the carpet in our rooms. We won't be here to hear about it if Grant doesn't like it. I wish I could take her to my base in London for this, but there's no time for that. We need to have the whole ceremony finished before midnight.
(Call me paranoid if you like, but too much has gone wrong since I've been in this dimension. There is no way that I'm going to put that Invocation online, firewalled or not.) The Invocation is a marriage ceremony. If Erynne chants it, wearing my Talisman, it will go into effect at midnight and if the portals are functioning - we'll both be sucked back to my home dimension.
She'll be safe and she'll be with me. (She might not be too pleased. She cares about her family, her clan and her people, and the the Lamia is a threat to them.
I care about Erynne and Lamia is a threat to her. I'd happily kill the Lamia, or hire someone to do it, but my first priority is Erynne. Even if she gets upset about finding that she's on Quaveral, at least she'll be alive to react to it. She'll have years to get over it, too.
