Most people wish that I was on their side.

I bring the happy ending. It says so right there in my Invocation and that isn't the kind of contract that anyone can break. A lot of the people who just go ahead and summon me assume that it's their happy ending and that I'm their demon. (Well, I am, in a way, and they're my Invoker. That aspect gets explained in the summons, too - if you read the small print real careful.)

Usually, somebody will get some kind of happy ending out of my Gigs, but there's no guarantee about who. There's not usually a guarantee about how long it'll stay happy, either - happiness takes work. In any case, I'm a Justice Demon. Once the gig's on and running the people who find out that they're in the cast get the chance to sing what they feel, they can get in touch with their deepest feelings and so on. (Hell, some of you pay therapists a fortune for the same thing.) One problem is that, once you start getting to know yourselves, you often end up giving yourselves what you think you deserve.

It's mostly up to you where it goes from there. I wasn't reared in your world. I know about it and I know more about humans than most demons ever want to know but I don't have the same basic sense of right or wrong or natural that you have - most of that stuff's different for me. I can't tell you how to react, I won't tell you what to feel.

I'll tell you something, during a Gig you're likely to get what you ask for, unless the Powers are against it. (Say you "just want to be alive," and you're likely to make it - but don't ask to rest in peace if you've got a manifest destiny coming up before the real end of the show - and don't ask me if I'm good or bad because the concepts don't fit.)
