They say there are an infinite number of dimensions. There are places where time runs faster then it does here, (where-ever “here” is.) There are places where time runs so slowly that empires can rise and fall on your earth in the course of a lazy summer afternoon there.
They say that a new reality splits off with every choice we make, that every crossroads in our lives leads to new worlds, new futures and old futures running on through time and space in parallel roads through time. Some call it quantum physics.
It makes a picture for an artist’s mind, and through it all lace the dimensional portals. They lead to worlds and to the mirrors of worlds, to artificial worlds on rings that circle unknown suns, to Dyson spheres, round planets and flat habitats, a great spider-web of … everything.
You thought your transport system could get complicated, didn’t you?
Can you imagine a subway map with the map of the streets above superimposed on it, and the flight-paths of your planes and satellites and such superimposed over that? Now imagine every shortcut, every path and lane that ever crossed that ground added to the map.
That’s a real simplification, but it may give you some idea of what a dimensional traveller is faced with when he sets off. I’ve heard them sing that infinity means that everything has to happen somewhere.
I ain’t into lying, so you can believe me when I tell you that anything, anything can happen on Tour.
