The trouble with dimensional portals is that you can never be quite sure where they’ll lead. Some worlds seem very like your own dimension – but there are differences – oh yeah.

Sunrise

So I’ll sing you a song
Of a Maid and Knight,
And the meeting he planned,
At the day’s earliest light,
And he sang at her window,
I’ll take no gainsay,
I’ll come for you at sunrise,
Though Hell bar the way.

It was dark at the window,
With dawn coming soon,
With the stars hid by clouds
And the least of the moon.
And the maid at the window,
She heard the Knight say
I’ll come for you at sunrise,
Though Hell bar the way.

Not all in that dimension
Is quite what it seems,
The Maid knew the Knight
Would be haunting her dreams.
She knew too many Maids
That he’d come for, they say.
So she sent for a Demon
To steal her away.

Now, I take the summoner
That they should heed,
But a maidenly vampire
Is not what I need.
So I took my leave,
And events took their course,
But the maid ate the Knight,
And his squire stole his horse!

It’s a happier ending
Than readers may feel,
For the Knight died a hero,
The Maid got a meal,
The Squire was a serf,
With no real wish to roam,
And he mounted the charger
And made his way home!

Now the bards sing a song
Of a Maid and Knight,
And the meeting he planned,
At the day’s earliest light,
As he sang at her window,
I’ll take no gainsay,
I’ll come for you at sunrise,
Though Hell bar the way.

And the moral of the story
Is one you ought to know
Be sure you carefully read the plot
Before you start the show!

"You know there are many other, more fortunate ways to die a hero. And I have to say, being eaten by the one I love is most certainly not on my list of ways to go."

"Nice tune though."

Oh, I don't reckon he loved her. The way I heard it he had sophisticated tastes, but he was kind of a basic guy.

This was his family could remember him as a monster-killer, if they wanted to. The villagers were discreet about celebrating.

((OOC, glad you liked it.))

"Then I'm sure he didn't deserve the name, Knight. You'll forgive me for thinking the name is more than a name." Slight smile.

Michael straightened up. "And you, what have you been up to lately?"

I doubt if he was a knight in your sense, his greatfather passed the title down. They were the kind of men that knew all their forefathers and maybe one in ten of their children. You'll likely know the type?

As for me, *makes a little dismissive gesture,* I've been wandering the dimensions, listening to some music, the usual kind of thing.

And have you been adventuring lately?

"For pleasure or necessity?"

"Myself? I haven't been doing much of late. Time has been a factor. Rest has been another."
