TM 188 Two Letters
Jul. 23rd, 2007 11:38 amTM 188 Write two letters: One to someone you hurt and the other to someone who hurt you
My Gigs, have a purpose you know,
Don’t regret, you were part of the show,
And I’ll say, as I dance on my way,
That’s Entertainment.
You might, if conditions are right,
Sing and dance, and be glad of the chance,
Or sparks fly, and the ending is nye,
That’s Entertainment.
My shows can be cool,
but the dances are hot,
It’s you who decides
On the number you’ve got,
On if you swing it or not
You can learn, if you wish you’ll
Just sing some burning issue.
It’s time, face the music and rhyme,
Put those words, round emotion or crime,
Come and sing, ‘cos the show is the thing,
The song should be true,
P’raps even for you –
That’s Entertainment.

Hey man, and someone wants a letter about what hurt me? Now, I’m the oldest operative in the business. I don’t go showing my weaknesses that way. You know how the Gigs work? My magic just peaks the surface emotion, whatever the customers are feeling right that moment. They sing about that, and that just works like a kind of siphon down to the deeper levels. What happens next, that’s up to them.
One good number, “Why Does Love Have To Hurt?” or “– Hell, it was even “I’m Under Your Spell”, in one Gig – that can lead to someone packing up and getting out of the danger area before it turns into a battle zone. (That last is a bad example. There was a Wicca who made herself immune, in that Gig. That put her straight on a crash course with the Powers.)
I ain’t about to show my weaknesses that way, though. I didn’t get to be the oldest operative around by doing things like that.
I’ve just been reminded that, in all honesty, I ought to write something – so, OK., I will. I’ll even translate it for you.
“Greetings and Felicitations to Health Functionary Seventeen,
We all felt that award was well-deserved. When you do get back to this dimension, could you take a look at my front teeth? The caps work pretty well, all things considered, but I just have a bad feeling about one on the left. Well, it’s the tooth that has the bad feeling, even with soup. The Minion who’s bringing this will have my diary. Could you fix up an appointment? Real soon?”
